Pastor’s Philosophy
A balanced church will be a healthy church.
God never called the church to do one thing; the expectation is for the church to do various things. There must be a balance between the congregation and un-churched.
The Bible teaches us that there is a season for everything, and we should be ready in season and out of season. Then, in 1 Corinthians 2:9, the Word reminds us that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” These few words encourage us to prepare us for a new season in our lives and ministry.
Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church is rich in its historical and spiritual culture. During my pastorate, I have discovered the passion of members for the church to succeed. In this new season of ministry, we are striving to maintain those passions we hold so deeply. Developing a healthy purpose-driven church is our goal; a church where everybody is somebody and Christ is all.
As we move forward in ministry transition, we cannot ignore our historical and spiritual culture. However, there must be a shift from the old to the new. The right culture starts with what we already have. If we have the people with Christ living inside, then we have all we need.
At Mount Calvary, our ministry purpose is in the Gospel of Matthew 22:27-30. It tells us how to love God and our neighbors. This passage empowers us to worship, equips us for leadership, educates on discipleship, evangelizes us for fellowship, and encourages us for ministry. As Mount Calvary strives toward this goal, we will continue to raise our commitment, develop spiritual growth habits and build a balanced Christian education ministry.
So continue to pray for Mount Calvary as we are committed to building up the church, the body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity.” (Ephesians 4:12)
Because of Calvary,
Rev. Dr. Winford Galmon, Jr.-Pastor
